For thirteen-time All-Star Michael Jordan, the mid-February exhibition was where he proved that he was a cut above the NBA’s best of the best. Ironically, one of MJ’s most memorable highlights came in 2002 when he blew a wide-open dunk; only the laughter of the crowd and both benches drowned out the sound of the ball clanging off the back of the rim. MJ still screwed up in style as we wore one of the best low-top Air Jordans ever created – the Air Jordan 17 Low. For that game, he sported a flashy edition that featured a bright Lightning Yellow midsole and a premium white leather upper.

SoleFly is remembering this iconic sneaker around All-Star Weekend by producing a collaboration that extends the “Lightning” story. Opting for the yellow leather upper, black ostrich-skin foxing on the lace collar, and a solid black sole, this colorway is a worthy nod to the OG while touching on the “Thunder & Lightning” storyline that was introduced in the mid-2000s. Additionally, SoleFly pulls an obscure detail from 2012 by issuing their Friends and Family pairs of the with PE-style stitching on the ankle cuff. Another tribute to the OG is a custom yellow dust-bag with co-branded Jordan/SoleFly logos.

Only 2,300 pairs of this collaboration have been produced, with a limited stock being sold at Shoe Palace at 7725 Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles and SoleFly Cutler Bay in Florida. The online release will also occur on SoleFly.com later that day. Matching apparel (tees, pants) will also be released.
